One standard lot of EURUSD is 100,000 euros. One lot of gold is usually 100 ounces. One lot of crude oil is whatever your broker's contract specification says, and it resembles neither. Type the same lot number into all three and you have taken three different amounts of risk.
So a channel that posts forex, gold, and oil through one account setting is sized correctly for one of them at best. Per-asset overrides give each kind of instrument its own sizing rule and its own default stop-loss (SL) and take-profit (TP) distances. Since the October 2 release, crude oil and natural gas have a class of their own, and an override can target one instrument by name.
Six classes, with energies as its own
TTMT groups instruments into six asset classes. You set an override on a class, and it applies to every instrument on your account that falls into it.
| Class | Examples |
|---|---|
| Forex Majors | EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY |
| Forex Minors | EUR/GBP, AUD/NZD |
| Metals | Gold (XAU), silver (XAG) |
| Indices | NAS100, US30, SPX500, DAX, DE40 |
| Crypto | BTC/USD, ETH/USD |
| Energies | WTI and Brent crude (XTIUSD, USOIL), natural gas |
Energies is separate from Metals on purpose. Gold and oil are sized very differently, and one shared class would put them under one lot size.
A symbol that fits none of the six has no class. That covers most stock CFDs and unusual names. It is sized by your account settings unless you give it an override of its own, which is the second half of this release.
One instrument can have its own row
A single-instrument override uses the same fields as a class override and applies to exactly one symbol. For that symbol it outranks the class. Everything else in the class keeps the class override.
The example from our docs: an Energies override at 0.10 lots plus a single-instrument override on XTIUSD at 0.30 lots. XTIUSD trades at 0.30. Brent and natural gas trade at 0.10.
Which override wins for a given trade
You do not classify anything yourself. TTMT matches each trade once, in this order:
- A single-instrument override for the symbol.
- The override for the symbol's class.
- No override, in which case the trade uses your account settings or the channel's profile.
The match checks your broker's symbol first and the signal's symbol second. If a channel posts GER40 and your symbol mapping sends it to your broker's DE40, an override set on DE40 applies. Broker suffixes such as XAUUSDm or XAUUSD.pro are handled for you. Because the match happens once, the row that sizes a trade is the same row consulted for its default SL and TP distances.
What the matched override then beats depends on the field:
| Field | Order used, first available wins |
|---|---|
| Lot size and sizing mode | Your override, then the channel's config profile, then your global settings |
| Default TP pips | Your override, then the profile or global settings, then the channel's own suggested defaults |
| Default SL pips | The signal's own stop, then the channel's own defaults, then your override, then the profile or global settings |
Sizing is the strong case. An override beats a channel's config profile even when that profile sets a lot size explicitly. The default pip distances are only a fallback: when a signal carries its own stop and targets, those are used.

Setting it up for a channel that posts gold, oil, and forex
Say your channel is mostly forex with gold a few times a week and crude now and then. Overrides live on the Entries & Targets page under Per-Asset Risk & Default TP/SL Overrides.
Leave forex on your global settings. Size the account for the instrument the channel posts most. No override on a class means no change.
Add a Metals override. Click Add Override, pick Metals, and choose a volume mode. There are four: Use Global, Fixed Lots (0.01 to 100), Risk % of balance (0.1% to 100%), and Fixed risk (account currency), which risks a set amount of money per trade and sizes the lot from the stop distance. The two risk modes work the gold lot out for you from each signal's stop, which I covered in risk 1%, not 0.05 lots.
Add an Energies override the same way. If your broker lists both WTI and Brent and you only want one of them sized differently, add A single instrument… and pick it from your broker's list.
Set a Max Volume on each. Every override carries a ceiling on lot size for its class, 1.0 lot by default. A tight-stop signal cannot size past it.
Fill in default SL and TP distances only where they should differ. A blank field inherits your global value. A stop distance that suits forex will be far too tight for gold.
A saved change reaches new trades within five minutes, usually at once. With either risk mode, if your broker's minimum lot cannot fit the risk budget, the trade is rejected and no exposure is taken.
Two things to check before you rely on it
Each override card has an Applies to line listing the instruments on that account it sizes. Below the cards, Which override applies? answers for any symbol you type, whether it is the channel's name for it or your broker's. Both answers come from the same matching that sizes your trades.
The second check is about channels you already tuned. An override applies to every channel trading that class on the account. If you run two gold channels with deliberately different lot sizes in their profiles, a Metals override flattens both to one size. In that case leave Metals without an override and size gold in each profile. Overrides are per account, so a live account and a prop account can carry different ones.
Overrides set sizing and default SL and TP pips, nothing else. Entry strategy, breakeven, and trailing come from your account settings or the channel's profile.
